Kestrel Partners announces new Chairman

Kestrel Partners (‘Kestrel’) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Wright as its new Chairman, succeeding Ari Zaphiriou-Zarifi who will remain a Partner of Kestrel, a member of its Investment Committee and a substantial investor in the Kestrel Opportunities fund.

Christopher first invested in the Kestrel Opportunities fund in 2011 and has been advising the Kestrel team since 2019. He has broad expertise as an institutional, private equity/VC investor, and in family office investing covering alternative assets globally. He has been a corporate Board member/committee chairman of private and listed companies across Europe and the USA. His experience is expected to be particularly helpful in furthering the rapid international expansion of Kestrel’s portfolio companies.

Christopher has been a member of the board of Roper Technologies Inc (NYSE: ROP) since he headed private equity fund management globally at Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, where he was a member of its Management Board until 2003. Today Roper is a S+P 500 diversified technology/software enterprise having a market capitalisation of c.$41bn. Christopher sits on the Roper Board’s Executive Committee and chairs its Audit Committee. He is a Director at Merifin Capital, a long-standing investor with Kestrel, and Chairman of Yimei Capital, Shanghai, a VC firm in China.

Max Royde, Kestrel CEO, commented: “Christopher has already proven himself to be a valuable member of the Kestrel team and we look forward to drawing on his extensive experience as our investee companies continue their rapid international expansion. Ari stepping down as Chairman is a big moment for Kestrel. He was the original catalyst when we formed Kestrel back in 2009 and his support over the years has been invaluable. We are very grateful for his contribution to building Kestrel and we look forward to continuing our work together.”

Christopher added: “As a huge supporter of Kestrel, I’m fully aligned with their activist investment philosophy and focus on business-critical software companies that exhibit high levels of recurring and sustained cash generation that can compound over the long-term. I’m particularly excited about applying the skills and learnings acquired as part of Roper’s evolution to Kestrel’s portfolio companies.”
